If you're doing something in your Sims stories that delves into topics you don't have much knowledge of, or something that requires some careful planning ahead - you're going to possibly need to do research for it. And it can be daunting to know where to start. I also recommend researching both familiar and unfamiliar topics so that you have more tools at your disposal for telling your story! I can't tell you how many plot and character ideas I've gotten just by doing research. Also it's fun to be curious about things. NOTE: This may not be necessary to do for gameplay-only stories, and how much you do will depend on multiple aspects. It's entirely up to you. It’s time to sit your character down and get to know them better. Maybe this is a brand new character for your Sims story you’ve come up with, or maybe it’s an existing character who’d you like to revamp or look at in more detail. Maybe you’re looking to build on a premade in your own story. Either way, character interviews are perfect for just that- and for me, who loves to get into fictional people’s heads, it’s great fun to do as well. I want to say: Do not be daunted by the length of it, because it’s designed so you can pick and choose what’s the most relevant to your story and to you as a writer . It’s up to you how much detail you fill this in with. you might want to answer these from the first-person perspective of the character. Some questions will be more or less relevant to your character than others.   This is a much neater version of the document I use to plan out my story. It's designed so it can be altered or deleted according to your needs. It has a section for notes, misc notes, character planning, chapter planning, a box to 'store' helpful links, challenge / points tracker, a space to develop the plot, and more. You can get rid of what doesn't apply to you, and you can add more if needed. And it's me, so there's a few little jokey bits thrown in on the examples. I hope this might come in helpful for some SimLit writers or challenge players! Please note, that there is no one way to write Sims stories ; creative work is always subjective. You do not have to do everything in this guide, obviously- just focus on the bits that apply to you and what you want to write. This is a gathering of my own ideas, the way I do things, and other options as well.
